When you have a business, you need a website. When you have a website, you need to keep it in the best possible condition.
A website is there for the customer’s experience. The better the experience they have when they browse the site, the more your company will benefit. So, it is inexcusable that your site is poorly maintained and not looked after. It will negatively affect your sales and your brand, and it could bring your business to its knees in the future.
It isn’t rocket science. In fact, it is pretty simple once you understand the basics.
Check Every Link
Links are there to add value to the site. When a browser clicks on the link, it takes them to a place on the web that explains part of the post. Everything in the post makes sense because the links are there to add extra knowledge and an explanation if need be. But, when they break, they do not do any of the above. How can they break? They simply don’t redirect to the place they should, or to any site whatsoever. External sites can cease to exist, so make sure your links go to the places you want. If they don’t, add another one.
Make Regular Updates
To start with, you need to add new and engaging content on a regular basis. If the last time you added content was months ago, there is nothing new to lure any users to your site. Everything on it is exactly the same as it was the last time they visited. Make sure you have time every week to tell your followers what’ going on in your world and what is new. The second aspect is an update to the foundations of the site. Is the code working okay? Is content buffering when you open it? Or, does the site take an age to load? A quick page speed test can tell you whether you need to make necessary updates or whether your site is in good condition.
Have A Chat
Thanks to social media, you can directly talk to the people who visit your website. What do they have to say? What is their opinion? Because they use it on a regular basis, they know the site intimately and are best placed to offer criticism and advice. Plus, a fresh pair of eyes is good to spot issues that you may miss altogether. Or, you can add a comment section. As long as there is an interactive element on your site, you can converse with your followers.
Make It Easy On The Eye
Never underestimate the effects of a good looking site. One pretty website can mask a lot of flaws and keep the audience coming back for more. The looks are important because they grab the attention of the visitor from the beginning. Users make an instant decision when they find a website, so you want to make a positive impact.
