Are you old enough to remember what life was like before Youtube? The website has only been around since 2005, but it has been entertaining people with videos (either cute cats, funny fails or anything else) ever since it was created. Before we had YouTube as the perfect procrastination tool that we could spend hours watching, how did we entertain ourselves on the internet?
In this interesting infographic we see the different websites that were popular before the miraculous invention of Youtube. Did you know that in 1969 Arpanet was created, which was the precursor to the internet? It was developed between four universities as a way to share information and without this – the internet as we know it might not have been created. From this came CD ROMS and eventually the invention of the internet by Tim Berners-Lee in the 1980s. In the 1990s a number of websites emerged such as Snood and AlbinoBlackSheep that posted member submitted content or offered puzzle games.
